ivestar Boogie is theater, dance, house and hip-hop all put together. It started out as a crew of dancers called FiveStar biatches, fierce females that demanded five-star treatment. I decided to take it one step further, and actually create an outlet of expression for our talents.

As rich as the theater scene is here in Chicago, where are the plays about our current generation? Hip-hop is now becoming the language of the youth, and it needs to be represented in a more positive light. (Not the booty/materialistic version that MTV shoves down our throat.) The kind of hip-hop where women are Queens and treated with reverence and respect. B-boying, graffitti, djing and rapping are the four elements that make up this vibrant culture. House music adds spirituality and soulfulness to the mix. We celebrate them all.

We would like to invite you to come out and watch "Cinderella: a hip-hop tale of an illegal alien", re-opening March 22nd, 2002. This play was written, choreographed, directed by, and starring women. Welcome to OUR music video, where the women are smart, strong and sexy. Nor do we have to dress and act like men in order to be taken seriously. The implication that a woman had to choose between her sexuality and her credibility--but couldn't have both, is hogwash. We'll still rock the short skirts, we'll still bump and grind, but you'd best believe we'll be on top!

We've put a lot of love and work into this project for the past year, and we're excited to see it come to fruition. We'd like to see heads from all scenes come out!
